relke

It was comforting to speak to someone who lived close by and knew the customs. Relke was thankful to Rille for not mocking either mare for their novelty to the land. Truthfully, Relke herself thought the whole situation was probably quite funny, but still; nobody wanted to hear that from a stranger. The towering mare nodded when Rille inquired toward their origins, looking to Elain as she responded. "Yes. I arrived this morning, and just met Elain a few moments before you." She extended her muzzle to once again drink from cold falls, enjoying the feeling of the icy water cascading down her throat, watching as the dark stallion stepped beneath the curtain of the falls to join them.

"Luthien," she repeated, the name unfamiliar to her. "If you are from another island, what brings you out to this one?" she asked. She did not know of the other islands in the chain aside from the one Rille mentioned. She doubted Elain knew much more, having arrived around the same time as Relke with about as much prior knowledge of the place. She considered his offer of a home on this other island, and though she was indecisive whether she would choose to follow him yet, she appreciated the invitation. Relke was a mare of the mountains, and though dense forests were unfamiliar to her, she was curious by nature and was not opposed to the idea. "That is very kind," she said gratefully. "I may take you up on your offer, though I can’t promise I won’t disappear into the forest," she said with a laugh.

Her blue gaze flicked back to Elain once again. She did not know whether the golden mare would seek a home here or if she was just passing through in the search for her Glenna, but she liked the thought of having a friend in the Thicket if they both chose to accept. She thought both Rille and Elain were pleasant to be around; calm, friendly, and neither of them seemed to have any expectations of Relke. The Vanner mare had never been part of a traditional herd, and did not have any experience with stallions staking claim over mares, though she knew that was often how things worked. Rille had not said anything to imply he might own the two mares if they joined him, nor had he made any move to control or force. The offer was simple, and Relke felt more inclined to accept it because of this. Still, she rolled the idea around in her head for a few more minutes, blue eyes studying her companions as though it would help her make up her mind if she memorized their shapes and coats.

Finally, she nodded toward Rille. "I think I would like to see the Thicket."
