 Tell me, tell me I survived. My gaze is hard on Faolain as I gauge her reaction to what I'd just revealed. But she does not reel back in surprise or shock. Instead, her demeanor is mostly stoic and calculated. It isn't until the white stallion joins us that the mood seems to shift. I assume this Iscariot is just here to be helpful but his presence takes the authority of two leaders conversing and waters it down. I can see how eager he is to impress the lean dark mare, so I watch solemnly and quietly. His offer of an idea isn't a bad one in theory, but it is clear it is expressed by a stallion who does not know Rougaru at all. The Paradise stud will challenge anyone who appears stronger than he. The silver bay stallion next door has no self-preservation. This was just a game, and he was here to win at all costs. My red tail flicks over my haunches and my jaws clench as I try to convey this as diplomatically as possible. "He was once intent to rule this whole island as a monarchy." I warn, shifting my weight over all fours. "Maybe the war has changed him. He has been quiet, laying low, ever since." I muse. I suck in a deep breath and cast my hardened stare to Iscariot now. "But you would be a fool to underestimate him. He will poke holes in any facade you use to trick him. His strength is in brute force, which he wields willingly." I look to Faoloin again now, and offer her a sheepish smirk. "Perhaps you'll have better luck than I have." I offer. "We do not need to come to any formal arrangement today, of course. I see no enemy in you, Faolain." I turn slowly on my haunches then, shifting my weight as I look out toward the sea behind us. "Next time, come see the Prairie." I say to her, followed by a warm nicker. |
