This is no ordinary love

Vita Nova's heart warmed to the filly, as she pressed the length of her face into her side. She nickered calmly to her, trying to reassure her everything was going to be alright. The moment was tender, but strangely affirming to the Inlet Queen. It felt good to be needed again, and to have a young babe to look after. All her children were grown and gone, of course. And even though Vita Nova couldn't nurse this one herself, she had become fiercely attached and interested in the girl's survival in just a matter of minutes.

The steely mare was grateful to see the filly's spirits lift as she attempted to take her mind off how hungry and lonesome she must be feeling. Vita Nova felt a pit in her stomach churn as Lakota confessed her mother was, in fact, Cherokee. A pang of guilt flashed through her again - Cherokee should have been Vita Nova's responsibility. But alas, wherever the mare was now, clearly it was too late.

"Well it is very nice to meet you, Lakota. You are a very grown-up young lady, being out here all by yourself." She said with a sharp smile and the flick of her smokey dark tail. "Why yes, I am the Queen."

She smiled sweetly at the girl as she lit up over the opportunity to lope along to the creek. "Let's go then." She said, while tossing her dished head wildly. She trotted off after the girl then, whinnying playfully until they reached the treeline. "You weren't kidding. You are fast." Vita Nova cooed, as she dipped her whiskered lips into the cool running water of the creek.

Her ashen ears flick forward when she catches the scurrying sound of another, and she smiles as she watches Ironclad cross the water. She nickers to her son, casting a blue-eyed gaze to the filly. "I think she's stuck with us." Vita Nova offers.

A sheen of salty moisture covers her eyes as Ysabel appears and reads the seriousness of the situation right away. Vita Nova bobs her head eagerly, praising whatever power that be for the answer to the poor filly's condition. "Please, Ysabel. She's starving."
