. CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site
There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities.
This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only.
We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund.
Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster.
Messages posted in the last 24 hrs. are in White.
Latest on Fusilier Museum Opening IP: 22.214.171.124 Posted on 19/6/2020 at 15:38:33 by Dennis Laverick
As you are all aware, the board of trustees took the difficult decision to close the museum on the 16th March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a very sad day for all of us including visitors and museum staff. Since then we have continued to preserve the collection with appropriate measures and we’ve been busy making plans for when the restrictions are lifted. At the moment it is extremely difficult to predict when we will be able to open as the government hasn’t as yet published any guidance for museums but we anticipate remaining closed for the next few months and re-opening in September at the earliest. It is also likely that when we do re-open it will be a phased opening taking into account schools opening as well as the demand for our facilities.
In the meantime our archive remains open and is still accepting family history research enquiries, so if you have any requirements please don’t hesitate to contact Philip Mather by email – Philip.email@example.com.
We are endeavouring to keep our social media platforms (Facebook, twitter and Instagram) up to date with the latest information and we still intend to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VJ Day on the 15th August in a digital format. We also have a few virtual fundraising events coming up so hopefully you will be able to join us for those and in the next few days our new virtual tour of the museum will also be live on our website. This will not be the same as a visit in person to the museum but it will hopefully give you a taster of what is on offer.
As with all museums, COVID- 19 has had a huge impact on us financially and who knows what will happen in the coming weeks and months. Should you wish to help in any way please visit our Crowdfunder Page on the link below – any contribution is gratefully received and will help us ensure we keep the legacy of the Lancashire Fusilier and Royal Regiment of Fusiliers alive for many years to come.
