I grew up in a town in which our local newspaper's banner cited a transliteration of Voltaire's "I disagree with what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it." Our First Amendment establishes just that and has been defended time and again by the Supreme Court. Now our Constitution is being attacked by revolutionary minded radicals, and our gutless politicians are slow to understand the problem for what it is. We need a leader who has the courage to "cut the Godian Knot" and put an end to this threat. Instead of writing EOs to protect statues, Trump should order martial law in cities with riots and send in the National Guard to back up the local police to quell them--by force if need be.
