David Moles, I believe the Veterans' Badge to be but a small token of recognition and appreciation to those who served in the ADF whether or not the box falls apart. I am certainly proud of mine. Not everybody had the opportunity to serve in Vietnam or in other conflicts and to receive 'the only badge above all other badges'; the Return From Active Service Badge! There are many ADF personnel who would have relished the opportunity to serve their country in conflict but were never deployed or even given that opportunity. Many ADF members worked hard at home supporting those on active service and got bugger-all for their efforts. I know, I was one of them, working nights and weekends so that squadrons and personnel could have the spares and equipment needed for the job. There are people wearing 'the only badge above all other badges' who spent less than a day in Vietnam! I am certainly not bagging these people for it was the policy of Government of the day. Replies:
