A Mystic, Myth, or Fable...

Ailill
Ailill easily slid back to their companionable ease, laughing easily with her. Or for the boys to chase after them. he pointed out with a devilish grin. It was that second it struck him with a strange horror that he would soon possibly be needing to chase stallions and colts away from the fillies until they were ready, or until one showed he was worth their time and attention. A second after that his eyes widened at the memories proving once upon a time he was the one family men chased so diligently away from their daughters. Suddenly everything made more sense to him and he almost regretted being such a pest to herd stallions. In his defense, he had never invited a mare to his home without good reason or without their consent.

Her laughter flowed over him, washing away his worries about what would happen in the future. He could enjoy her company and pretend there was nothing to worry about beyond this clearing and the playing fillies in the flowers nearby. His face abashed, he looked away and bumped her back, blowing at her. Well, when I find a newborn and get chased away by a mare… I am not really paying attention to the look on my face.

The stallion glanced over at the mare, surprised by her curiosity about him being a father and more so by her bringing up a mare he had crossed paths with not too long ago. The memory brought a flick in the corner of his lips, and a chuckle at the fact he did not even know the mare’s name. The fancy mare? She was part of Rougarou’s herd. I don’t know the man, but I am sure I would have gotten a hoof in the face. His head tilted, confirming he thoughts. Besides, she never even gave me her name. Siobhan’s tone had been light and teasing, his devilish grin over at her was just as teasing. Did you think she held a special place in my heart? he joked, dancing around the true subject of his interest and trying to pull the reason for her interest from her lips.
