She was shocked to learn about Bjorn's loss and his sudden disappearance. It explained why he hasn't come to visit his son lately, but it didn't explain where Askold was. Ysabel thought he would have come home if his father was no longer around to teach him which begs the questions just who took over the Ridge? Haskuldr was asking about his father again so she agrees to go find him. She doesn't tell her son his father was gone or what had happened to his herd. She also doesn't tell him the real reason she answers his request to go fetch him.

"I'll be back soon," she assures her young son as she leaves him behind with his adoptive sister and Isabel. Warsaw agreed to keep an eye on them and she knew the other herd members would as well so she didn't worry as she swam out to sea. Ysabel journeyed from Tinuvel to the jungle that covered the Ridge. She navigates the territory with ease, none of her memories gone from her time here as the herd's lead mare. Some of the smells were the same, but there were new horses about now that she didn't know. Ysabel assumes it was one of these smells that claimed the Ridge.

Askold was here...somewhere, but it was another smell that had her attention. She walks the same dirt trail they had first met on. Last time she had sought him to protect her home from an intruder, but it turns out he wasn't one at all. A friend of Bjorn, a friend of hers. "Ailill." She says his name as he comes into view. The recent rain left the way muddy and her hooves caked in thick mud as she stops near his pale skin. She was curious to know what kept him here and curious to know if that spark she felt a year ago was still there.
