softly come and softly go,

Ember's words fascinated Beltane, simply put. Beltane hadn't even realized that she'd been looking for the answers that Ember provided, and she listened keenly to each and every word she said, though it might not have appeared as such from time to time. As focused as she might have been, parts of Beltane still drifted off or blew away in the breeze. The idea of having more to grow though...Well, that had certainly caught Beltane's complete attention. It made her grin, her eyes having drifted towards where their avian companions had disappeared to watch quietly. Though Beltane had little to say in response to Ember, the sudden warmth in her features might have been enough to convey her thoughts on the matter at least. It was a tepid warmth, lukewarm at best, but warmth nonetheless. If Beltane could grow, then it surely meant she was less dead than she thought. The dead stayed stagnant, after all.

"I will follow you. We will, too." Beltane had paused to feel the warmth that radiated from Ember. Kin, she had said, and Beltane wondered if they would truly be as such. Then again, she had little reason to doubt it, or to fear the alternative. What did she have to lose, after all? From her dead-eye, she could see the faint glow of light and the deep shadow of nothing, where Lughnasa seemed to agree with her decision to trust the other. Beltane had nowhere else to go lest she desire returning to the sea for good, and she was surprised to find herself reeling at the idea of that. The only way forward, she thought she heard Lughnasa say, was to continue living.

"I'm strong enough...to go, to follow." She straightened, as much as she could, and tried her best to appear a little more regal despite her battered state. Her stomach had something in it, and she could feel the energy move through her veins like warm water. Her connection with Ember had given her a taste of adrenaline, a little flicker of fire somewhere inside of her. With that, she could go forward to kin. She'd rest better among kin, she knew.

As if to prove her point, she began to shuffle forward. It felt as if she were breaking frost away from her muscles, but eventually they felt more equine and less rock or ice. She hadn't the slightest clue of where Ember intended to go, but she felt compelled to begin walking nonetheless, sliding up beside Ember with a look over her shoulder. "Has it a name? This place...These kin."
