We found each other in the dark

Through the black starless water,
And the cold lonely air. On the rock restless seas.

The adrenaline was beginning to fade, and as such, so was the flush of warmth the palomino mare felt in her cheeks. She blinked in rapid succession as she took in the details of the lean, black mare. She offered Faolain a short apologetic smile when she explained her intent. Tavas then merely sucked in a deep breath and expelled it quickly in the form of an embarrassed snort.

She was grateful for the conversation to turn elsewhere, and really, to just get to the point. She settled her weight over all fours as her golden ears pricked forward at attention. Tavas felt a lurch in her chest as Faolain confirmed her fears - Bjorn was gone. She nodded her dished head solemnly as she considered this. "I see." She said shakily with a flick of her wavy blonde tail.

Tavas' thoughts briefly returned to the war, and she wondered if that had something to do with the Icelandic stallion's disappearance. But Bjorn had pledged no support to either side... All of it didn't make sense. Could Warsaw have returned to seek his revenge for breaking their alliance? There were just too many options... and even the more undesirable ones still floated around her skull - just maybe he'd had enough. Maybe he took the herd who meant the most to him and drifted on to the next place. The latter made Tavas squirm in place. It hurt her feelings. But in reality, her time here in the Ridge with Bjorn had been short-lived and fleeting. It was naive of her to think of the experience as anything but...

But Tavas was here... desperately grasping at straws.

She breathed a heavy sigh, and offered the dark mare a terse, straight-lipped smirk. "Thanks for letting me know." Her gold-flecked eyes searched Faolain's as she peppered her with questions - the usual sort after someone shows up unannounced looking for someone else. She was intrigued by the way Faolain talked about Bjorn's herd, or what remained of it, here in the Ridge. On first impression, Faolain seemed honest and kind. That was rare.

"You seem... nice." She blurted out. "Thanks for the offer. If you don't mind, I might stay and rest for a few days. Maybe take a stroll for nostalgia's sake." She said with a laugh. "But I'm not sure what I'm going to do next."

"I'm Tavas, by the way."
