During the early days of the Vietnam war, as a Co-van MY ( American Advisor) We learned in the Rung Sat Special Zone their was a bounty or price on us Dead or
alive . it was so many piasters, and that made us proud it boosted our egos as the number was high. Then we converted the amount using the official exchange rate , as i recall it came to abou 50 or 100 dollars. that shot down our ego. We were insulted it was just like the USA paid us $35 (direct intensive) Combat pay in the early days before US troops units arrived
we did not look a gift horse in its mouth. but who in their right mind equated 35 bucks to daily getting shot at. Replies:
