First Breath After A Coma

I would honestly love you now,
But I would lovingly let you down.

He was outraged.

When Shamwari shared the news, Jabari experienced a range of emotions in record time, so fast he couldn't verbally respond to his father. He had been too busy doting over Petal to even realize that Rougaru had come knocking, making good on a promise to avenge Celestria's death. Had he known, Jabari would have fought his sire to be the one to take silver bay stallion on himself.

But Shamwari had negotiated this ordeal, after he failed to best the stallion in physical fight. Rage bubbled under the two-toned stallion's skin, even if logic told him that his father had made the best deal he could in this situation. He was being sent back to Paradise, mere days after being reunited with his family. His skin crawled every time he thought about it. He clenched his jaws as the anger consumed him, continuing to rob him of the precious hours he had left with Petal and their daughters.

How could this happen again? He was devastated. He feared losing Petal, Daphne and Dahlia, for good this time. But there was no way out of it. He stood at the shoreline of the Prairie one night with tears in his eyes, and pushed himself into the surf.

He rose onto the dark shore of Atlantis, the beach still somewhat familiar, even when blanketed by the stars. The stallion felt numb by the time his hooves hit the sand. He was despondent, a shell of himself already. He'd resigned himself to the fact that all he did was bring turmoil to those he loved. Maybe this was for the best after all. Maybe they would be better off without him.
