BONDURANT
it is not violence that sets men apart,
...it is the distance that he is prepared to go.

Her soft laughter was so pleasing to his ears, the sound of it causing them to strain in her direction as his large body was veritably pulled closer towards her by it. She was enchanting, wrapped in the warm glow of the freshly risen sun and somehow it simply fanned the spark of new life that had been glowing like a warm coal in his spirit. It was as if every other encounter since his return to the islands had been readying him for this moment, his soul left stagnant for so long that had he met her when he had first arrived she might have consumed him with fire. Yet his soul had been subtly reawakened, those flames reignited and tended from the fierce Rivaini, to his scuffle with Kendry, to his own daughters relentless nature. It had all but primed her for the fateful moment she might walk into his life. All of this swirled just outside of his minds reach, too entranced by the woman before him to take notice of it yet.

Instead she danced to his side, the movement captivating and his emerald gaze followed her before his own body was pulled along. His feathered feed shuffle closer, his heavy body no where near as graceful as her own and yet he could not care at the moment. His spotted head nodded at her reply, though he did not fully understand its meaning. Bondurant had always been a simple man, believing only that which he could see and feel, and yet there was something more here even he had to admit. As her soft nose touched him it was like lightning, the feeling electric has it danced across his mottled skin and down his spine. Raising his head a new light shone in his jeweled eyes as he regarded her, her next words resonating to his core. She seemed delighted by it all, the light of dawn seemingly haven sparked something within her as well. A new life for them both.

Almost dreamily he reached towards her, seeking to run his dark nose against her own for but a moment before she danced away once more. Her tone beckoning him further as she seemed to imply so much more than her lyrical voice said. It left him silence, nearly struck dumb by everything and yet the dark tresses of her tail fluttering across his painted side seem to seal the new life that had been created within him. His own body rotated towards her as if pulled by gravity itself, stepping towards her over the mossy covered rocks atop the falls with an abandon he had not felt in years. He pauses with his head next to her withers, his thick neck stretching to allow his whiskered nose to hang but a breath above her coppery skin. There is but a moments pause, his hot breath tickling where the ebon tresses of her mane ended before he moves to run his mouth down her spine slowly.

He revels in every moment, allowing the feeling to consume him and seal his fate without an ounce of the guilt or remorse he might once have felt. This was right, somehow he knew that above all else. “Here I was thinkin’ I was too old for new beginnings.” Words murmured against her burnished skin before his green eyes flick towards her face to gauge her feelings. He was a gentleman still, age had tempered him enough to know where emotion could lead even with the new vivaciousness he was feeling. The question lay in his eyes, wordlessly spoken as he awaited her answer.
