TO SUP WELL, FOR THE WORLD IS GOOD

He is not long to be alone in greeting the stallion and mare, one of Maslakhat’s people along with one of his own. The girl is the one who had greeted him, in the lovely tongue of The People, so she is who his eyes cling to easiest-- or well, most of the reason. Her bow is elegant, her manner spirited but slightly taken aback by the greeting… The stallion beside her is not unhappy at his approach and his greeting is cordial, though apologetic and in a tongue he had only learned little but passably.

The admission that he had no knowledge of Maslakhat makes Rigel stand a little taller, eyes grow a little sharper, but the Teke seemed well enough relaxed that the interruption does steal his attentions back to the flaxen maned sabino mare once more. “I am he.” His voice is in the tone of surprise, knowing that he was well enough known as a prince but not recognizing this mare as one of the women of Mira who he had met - nor even a woman of Mahgrib. "I heard tell of a story, not long after I was born. My earliest memory; the Sons of Mira. The tale claims… is it true you and your brothers were named for the stars?"

“We are. Maslakhat has given all four of us, my eldest three brothers and I, the Eastern border. Antares, Myself, Atair, and Aldebaran reside there now,” he replied in their shared language, until Maslakhat had made himself known and approached with an introduction of his name. Rigel acts in the appropriate deference during his approach, stepping aside, and it is clear by the shortness of speech in the Lord of the land, his own interest in the speaking with the lady left him seeming overly eager.

He is gifted, nonetheless, with the young mare’s name and he smiles that soft smile of his when his gaze returns to her at hearing it. Her approach is forthcoming, he realizes, and he stands still under her investigative gaze save for a slight arch to the crane of his neck and a snap of his tail that ends with it lifted in the regal poise that Arabians could take in their prouder moments.

“I would be honored to take your charge as a Guest while you investigate, if the Malik permits.”
