"Ayyüce" the words of her valide drew her attention. She tilted her chiseled head upwards and focused her dark eyes on her face. She admired her mother, especially the way her golden coat shimmered and sparkled beneath the watchful eyes of the gods. Her ears tipped forward within her tufts of mane and she listened intently as her mother continued to speak. "The others, they tease you because you are unique," but she did not miss the look of pain that flashed in her mother's dark gaze. Why was she shorter? Why did her coat not shimmer and sparkle? The other's teased her and called her yabancı, but she was born here... just like them.

"My dear child, they envy you because you are a gift. You are of ay and güneş!" her ears tilted back as the her mother's words settled over her. Her mother stepped closer and pressed her muzzle against her wet cheek. "Bir hediye." The word lingered over her before finally her mother cleared her throat as father stepped from behind the palms. "Now go play." she commanded before she turned her attention to father.

Once Ayyüce was out of earshot, her father turned to her mother. "Are we ever going to tell her?" Her mothers brows furrowed and her dark eyes narrowed briefly, but as her anger subsided she knew that someday they would have to tell her. "Tell her what? That her parents are dead?" she paused her words barely above a whisper. "She would hate us if she ever found out."

"Yolumu korusun," she whispers into the still night around her. She tilts her chiseled crown towards the star studded heavens overhead, it is brilliant, silvery stars sparkle in a vast expanse of midnight black. She cuts through the dark waters with precise, even strokes. Her dark eyes focus on the distant horizon where the dark vast heavens meets the ocean.

Wearily she steps through the hissing surf despite her legs that shake and quake with exhaustion. It has been hours since she has entered the ocean, at first excitement vibrated her body but as the hours wore on - it was replaced with exhaustion and longing. She does not stop until her hooves feel the hard sand beneath them. Here, she collapses in a heap - her breath heaves and her heart races. She closes her dark eyes and hides them beneath a thick veil of lashes as she catches her breath and beckons her strength to return.

-

A soft light draws her from her sleep and her breath is drawn in sharply as her eyes flutter open and take in the pastel world around her. The sun peeks just below the horizon with the first days light, it washes the world in pastel pinks and dull oranges. She slowly pushes herself from the sand and clambers onto shaky legs. Sand clings into the tangles of her knotted onyx colored mane and presses itself against her two-toned skin. Her muscles scream in protest as she turns her chiseled crown and her dark eyes widen as they take in the vast land that spreads out before her. An abundance of grass grows from the fertile soil and ... there are others. She stumbles across the sands and into the lush meadow.

She drops her teeth to the grasses at her hooves and greedily consumes each bite that passes her lips. What is this place? It flows with milk and honey. Then the thought dawns on her. Söz verilen toprak. As the thought comes to her mind so does a flash of pain. Her eyes darken and splotches of light overtake her vision. She clinches her teeth together and stifles a cry as her head begins to pound.

"Seni duyuyorum tanrılarım," she pleads into the still morning air. "Durdur."
