He is at least relieved when she admits it would not be easily done, that she was wishfully thinking to have thought that she’d leave Eness. It gives him some hope for himself, though he does think it strange that she be so vehement when she was moments earlier intending to forget, to forego anything to do with Eness over the upset of Eness finding another. Sakhmet does not seem to know her own mind or heart, perhaps tossed about too violently in the sea of change to put it to proper sense altogether.

"If I had loved her? I loved her. I had loved her and let her tell me that I was not for her. That I was not the brother she held fancy for, for all that the brother she did love had no eye for her. I loved her and would have had them make me eunuch if anyone would have allowed a King’s son to be cut." He is bitter about that, too, his voice tells her. His brother had been the love the girl sought, not himself. Had he not spoken of understanding for her situation?

"If you are not dead, then some god or another meant for you to live, Sakhmet. Perhaps it was Sekhmet herself that spared your god’s hand, planted the mark on you to make you strong enough to be there for Eness and aid her escape. I know the goddess to be quite capable of throwing other pantheons into a tizzy, especially when she finds favor in one such as yourself." He argues because he cannot fathom a world so impossibly somber and worthless as the one she viewed day to day. "Do I have some other motive then? I think I told you of my motives - and that they were entirely from a place of understanding and hope to soften your pain."

He snaps his tail, frustrated that she be so dedicated to her self-hate and her despair that she’d turn away from the hope he’d no chance to fulfill in his past. Perhaps that was it though, that he wished that he had been able to do anything at all to have had any form of requited love. Even if that love had been from a eunuch for his Lady. "I cannot speak for your soul beyond only that if you were destined to die, no one but a god would have chosen to allow that destiny to fray and thus leave you alive. And if a god chose to let you live-- what if it was so that Eness’ heart could also be whole. I have seen Soul Sewn who had hearts too big to owe that particular part of themselves to only one. What if you are, Sakhmet, Eness’ Heart Sewn?"
