He can feel the freedom of Shu’s breath swirling about her like a snort of his mighty nostrils. She is the essence of defiant winds believed bridled and tame. She is not meant for war, not meant for such tame pursuits as retrieving lost princes. It makes him want to bare his teeth to think that she might be inclined to return to where they strapped her down and fed her work to break her spirit, push her into the ground-up mud till she drowned in earth - yearning for air.

He does, however, rather think she was overstepping by treading on the toes of not only his elder brother but his wife -- who was by no means a pushover. He says as much. "Would you brother truly be angry and deny a soldier of the very army sworn to protect our Motherland? I don't believe he would want one of Pakhet's finest to thirst." Her haughty head, laughter like shards of glass, her dark gleam of eye… He wonders if perhaps… she might still be put out about that left-behind race.

The good news was, though, that she did not tease Set any longer and came out from the pool. "Knowing your intent is to bring him home, force him back into a society he no longer fits into? Yes, I do think he’d want you to remain thirsty… He has become the King his father raised, even if he is softer and has different ideas as to what kings ought to be. And since the Motherland now has a Daughterland, so to speak, I think he’d not be so impressed." His voice holds all the shrug she needs to know that he’d run out of steam to argue about anything else regarding his brother. The man had a whole agenda, of late.

"How did you come here and why? Was it chance, or did the gods show you in signs the way?" He looks up at her then, solemn in a way he rarely was except when he was being consecrated to Shu at a festival or a Rite. "It was Shu who led us, following the winds to the sea-- and then, even when we were certain we were silly in the head from all the greenery, Shu gave us the clue of Ra’s own land here on this island. We had nothing but a hint of it on the wind - but that was enough. It was enough to know we had to face Nu’s own depths, come what may. I have never ran so in my life, Zazu, as when we spent that first night here, in our New World."
