Cuckoo, black or yellow billed?

We have had Black-billed Cuckoo calling around our neighborhood for about a month, but since last week I have been hearing a different cooing. This morning it was close enough that I could listen more carefully. It was a single note, repeated 5 to 7 times. "Cow. Cow. Cow." Soft and surprisingly quiet, it was the same note as Black-billed, but not in their triplet "coo-coo-coo" or 4 or 5 notes together. It was perched in some poplar and birch right in the crowns, so couldn't get a good look at it.
Just wondering if the caterpillars this summer have drawn in some Yellow-billed Cuckoos as well?
