FIRE BURNS WHERE IT FALLS

The rose grey ‘Teke was direct, clearly wasting no time in conveying her mission and purpose for coming here. Maslakhat does not mind this; introductions grew more monotonous and tired the older he became. She referred to a sightless oracle and his mind immediately flicked to Yusuf, though the description of whom she spoke quickly dissolved the thought. Surely she could not mean El Aran? The blind seer, as she was called, was long dead at the hooves of the formidable Valve. And he would hardly refer to the black half breed as one of their people—she was of the desert, but nothing more.

“I have only known one blind seer,” he offered for the sake of clarity. “She was called El Aran.”

He tilted his head slightly to the side, searching her face for a reaction—gauging if this was indeed the mare she sought. Curiosity pulled at him, wondering if she had similar motives as El Halin and Iftikhar—did she want this sightless oracle dead? Or were her intentions more peaceful?

“I pursued her once as well, until she was at last captured and executed,” he finished with a flick of his dark tail. Maslakhat included this detail to demonstrate his capabilities surrounding such tasks. “Ağır suçlar işledi,” he added.

He would not be so direct as to offer his services just yet—Maslakhat could not afford to leave the Dunes and search the islands so readily to appease her. However, if her offer was tempting enough, he would absolutely work out some kind of deal that might benefit them both.
