He should have known the grief of losing Geneva, Zubeia, and Zena would settle over the Desert like a dark cloud, obvious to all who arrive here. He'd been trying to move through it at his own pace, working on protecting his borders and the mares here even more steadily and he was more hesitant to leave Salem than he was in the past. Nasa was an observant soul so of course she would notice. She seemed hesitant to say anything at first, asking he how he was and that she noticed things had changed. He let out a soft sigh before nodding. "I am working through it to the best of my abilities and I apologize if my actions have in any way darkened your time on Salem. Doubt wormed its way into my mind but I decided not to let it control me so I'm pushing past it to better defend my home and my herd."

She asked how she could help and he smiled. "Your company would do more wonders than you even know." He admitted lightly. He snorted as he started to walk, nudging his head to invite her along so they weren't just standing in the sun. She was much more adapted to desert life than most of his herd members but even so, he was sure she liked to be moving and he found himself more restless now a days, anyway. Flicking an ear toward her, he looked at the sand shuffling beneath his large hooves before he began. "I lost two mares and a filly not so long ago. Wolves got into the territory as they were giving birth and while Geneva got away with my son and daughter in tow, Zubeia sacrificed herself for their escape. Geneva was bitten multiple times in her escape and unfortunately she succumbed to her wounds days later. Zena, my daughter, not too far behind. I only have Carbon, my son, left, and he's not doing so well with no mare's milk to feed him. I'm afraid I'm going to lose him, too."

The stallion sighed, sure that she didn't want to hear such horrid things but feeling like she wanted to know the situation she had walked into. It was only right for him to continue his streak of honesty with her so she would more fully understand.
