Bill: Oh, what a nice, NICE essay! Just breathes of college-level appeals to sweet reason, maybe a good rousing debate. Dr. Washington comes down solidly on both sides of the fence. Going to keep the George Mason name, but look around to rename some buildings with more suitable anti-slavery connections. Unfortunately in today's overheated climate, the days of reasoned debate are long past, the street is ruled by the mob. I can even picture an enraged mob swarming into the GMU campus to trash the place, and maybe burn the weasely president in effigy, or reality, if they can find a barrel of gasoline. First move for him is to dismiss the campus police, rely on his obviously superior debating skills to soothe the radicals' feelings.
