When he told her the heat was getting to her head, he was surprised the mare agreed with him. For a moment, she seemed thoughtful, looking at her own hooves as if all the answers lay in the sand. He waited patiently for her to compose herself, not wanting to interrupt her thoughts or where they might be headed. Finally, she looked up and seemed happy when he told her she should go to the land she once loved. She agreed it was an excellent idea, telling him she didn't want to distract him from visiting the Badlands and giving it a better name. He chuckled at the idea before nodding with a snort. "That will be my mission then. Renaming the Badlands. I won't let you down. And you'd be no distraction." He added with a smirk, his eyes dancing with amusement. When she asked if he visited the Crossing, he nodded. "I wasn't allowed to until I turned a year old but now I can go pretty much whenever I want. Shall I meet you there some day?" He hoped this wasn't their last meeting.
As she started to jog forward, he hesitated, not sure if he should follow her for another run or if this was to be their parting of ways. He shifted his weight and watched her, ears pricked and muscles bunched in case he was to come along. That's when her final words were tossed back to him and he settled in the place he was, knowing she was indeed leaving. But she gave him a time and place which was a lot better than nothing. He grinned, his eyes still gleaming as he called back. "Good luck, Shararat!" He watched as she raced over the dunes, restless energy making his own hooves dance but he wanted to make sure she got over the borders and away without trouble. Once she was gone, he let out a sigh of contentment and turned back toward the heart of the Desert. He felt accomplished. Maybe he'd helped someone today.
