Persephone nodded, understanding, as Rille explained that he does not have a particular path to follow. She was pleased to hear him accept her offer of company regardless, however – she wanted to get to know her new neighbour a little better, and letting a near stranger wander completely unsupervised on his first visit would not have been Persephone’s preference.

“I would be happy to accompany you. Evren?” She tilted her head at her companion to see if she would likewise agree.

His next words, however, were even more pleasing to her ears. It was a relief to think that she could continue to count on her neighbours, and have to fear danger from across the seas only. Checking over one’s shoulder soon became exhausting.

“You speak wisely,” Persephone replied, a slow smile spreading across her lips. “Let us be allies then, and look out for Luthien as a whole.”

The smile faded from Persephone’s face then, however, as Rille commented on the war. She thanked him silently for not prying, but she could see as well as anyone that he would take whatever information he could get. She gave a glance over to Evren, trying to judge her expression.

In the end, however, Persephone decided he were better informed, as least with the basics, if he was going to be their ally.

“It was some time ago now, but we are still wary of future repercussions. We were targeted, mainly by a stallion from Tinuvel called Warsaw, who brought his fury and his allies down on us. He did not think mares should lead herds, among many other excuses he made for his actions. Many of our herd were injured or scattered – some are still missing – not to mention the many incidents of harassments leading up to their attack. Thankfully we were able to drive them away eventually, but it was chaos. We do not wish to repeat it.”
