He listens as Arkana describes the island of Luthien, his ears pricked forward in interest. He likes trees, but denser forests are, as Arkana says, claustrophobic. He lets out a chuckle at the description of the Thicket. ”I don’t think I’d fit,” he says.

Though he is sleepy, he enjoys listening to the workings of Luthien and of Arkana’s family there. He has passed through forests with his mother during their travels, but never stayed long; Kaiju has always thought they were pleasant, but generally preferred the open steppes and grasslands in which he spent the most of his time. At the mention of the Prairie, he lifts his head with heightened interest. ”Oh, that sounds quite nice,” he says, his mind wandering the plains of his past. Despite his bulk and the slowness that inevitably came with it, Kaiju loved to run, and was quite fast once he got up to speed. His heart flutters a bit as he is briefly taken to the open fields Arkana describes, and he feels the thundering earth beneath him and the wind rushing into his ears. It takes him a second to be pulled back to reality, but he shakes his head gently and blinks at Arkana, remembering what they had been talking about a second ago.

”That sounds wonderful,” he says. ”I’ve really only ever known my mother. We traveled together, never really settling. It was nice, I never really learned anything different until I came here, you know? I miss it sometimes, but I can’t tell if I miss the changing scenery or just my mom.” He chuckles again, but it is a little bit sad this time. He isn’t even sure if his mother is still alive, but if she is, he hopes she is doing alright and does not worry about him too much.

In an effort to lighten his mood again, he looks back up to Arkana, meeting her bi-colored eyes with a small smile. ”I don’t actually remember where I came from originally. I just know that we mostly traveled across plains. I hope one day I can see the Prairie you told me about. Maybe we can race!” Though his voice holds excitement, he also grows sleepier with every word, and his head begins to droop. He wants to hear more about Luthien, but maybe someday soon he can just see it for himself.
