Sephine’s interest at the filly’s challenge is pushed away by ire at her sister’s proclamation about her and tug on her sparse mane. "I am NOT! she retorts. Then, in answer to the dark filly’s challenge, she says, "We live here!" The black and white girl studies the smaller filly, suddenly feeling jealous of her. Fearless as she sometimes believes herself to be, she has not yet wandered from the safety of the Forest. In the lull between conversation, she resolves to herself that she will do some exploring on her own soon.

Sephine is just as disappointed as the grullo that she can’t see the different running that is mentioned. And then, just as quickly, the subject is changed to the similarities between herself and Arkana. Her brown eyes roll hard at her older sister’s words. Deep down, though, she is grateful to have Arkana. And Sabran and Eadaz, for that matter. The four fillies and their mothers are like a big happy family.

She wonders why this filly’s sisters aren’t with her, but for now Arkana is doing the talking and question asking. One ear flicks in surprise when her sister implies that she recognizes the filly, but she knows enough to keep her mouth shut for now. Later, though, she will be sure to bombard the bay filly with about a thousand questions about the Prairie and its residents.

When Arkana is finished, the younger filly shuffles her feet on the needle strewn earth. More questions bubble in her throat and threaten to explode from her mouth. She tries to be patient and wait, but in the end her youth wins the struggle and she blurts out, "Also, what’s your name? I’m Sephine!" She glances toward her older sister, hoping that she won’t be met with annoyance at her inability to control her impulses.
