What strikes me about the often sensible legal efforts to limit gun types and ages for ownership is that that Amendment says the right to bear arms "shall not be infringed." That's a completely unlimited statement. All gun restrictions are infringements. Not to be infringed means not to be limited in any way, even a little bit. The solution to the problem is the passage of a Constitutional Amendment. Passing amendments is really difficult and time consuming, and the folks who want rational gun ownership control just don't have the stomach for it. If it's so damned important to them, they should step up to the effort. Ah, but there will be a real devil in those details. Replies:
