Better to die with honor

It was funny how different they thought. Kimber yearned for action and a clear sense of devotion while Askold waits for her to make the move. He does not wish to force himself upon her and instead tries to read her reactions. So far, he thinks it was going well. Kimber steps into his touch and his eyes close to take in her intoxicating scent. Her muzzle brushes his mane and he doesn't dare move a muscle. He did not want to ever forget this moment. Then her words hit him. His heart skips a beat as his eyes flutter open. She follows up by saying she was sorry and his head shakes in responce. Askold takes a step back to bring his face to hers, almost muzzle to muzzle.

Nothing about his face said this situation was funny. Askold was a serious creature and when he felt something he wasn't about to lie about it. Kimber needed to know how he felt about her even if she didn't understand. "I missed you too." He stares at her with a stone cold face for a minute or two longer before his gaze drops to the ground. How could he explain to her his next mission? Being honest was the only option. His eyes raise back to stare into hers. "I need to find my father, but when I do I want you to live with me." How would she react? Though Askold has been tossed between homes in his two years of life, Kimber has never seemed to call anywhere home. Even her birth home does not call her back.

Facts were he could not keep her safe if she kept wandering the main island aimlessly. Eventually someone would snatch her up. Especially being a young mare now. He snorts at the thought before his last sentence rolls off his tongue. "There is no one to protect you here. Let me protect you." He did not want to leave her alone, but he had to find out what his father was thinking. He adores his sire and wants to protect him just like he does Kimber. He had to find a way to keep both of them close. Little did he know when he made it back to the Inlet to confront his sire he would no longer be there. Bjorn's newly claimed Inlet was growing stale just like the Ridge had months ago when his father disappeared from his family.
