I'm of two minds on this action. First, I approve of discharging Mid'n. Standage for stupidity. Putting tweets about private thoughts on the internet broadcasts to the world what one thinks about controversial subjects. He has a right to his thoughts, but it's stupid to air them.
On the other hand, VADM Buck is preaching thought intolerance and seems way off base in going public with a "holier than thou" statement he wears like a gold cross. He seems to have forgotten one of the cardinal rules of leadership, which is to praise in public, censure in private. The word about the Navy's dedication to diversity and inclusivity would get out without Buck's public sermon. Replies: There have been no replies.
