The below-linked NBC News article about the debate used a term I have never seen before, and one which I couldn't find in my Webster's Dictionary---Neme.
I checked the word out on google and came up with the following definition:

Meme-- a unit of cultural information spread by imitation. The term meme (from the Greek mimema, meaning “imitated”) was introduced in 1976 by British evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins in his work The Selfish Gene.
