PERSEPHONE

Persephone heard the soft greeting of another, and turned her gaze from her reverie to see who had approached her. She recognised the silver-haired woman as a recent newcomer to the Forest, Aponi. She had met the mare briefly in passing, but had not had a chance to get to know the new member of the Forest herd properly.

Now seemed as good a time as any, and it seemed like Aponi had the same idea.

“Aponi, hello,” she began, offering her a welcome smile and a nod of her head in greeting. “It is good to see you.”

Persephone tilted her head a little at Aponi’s question. She was intrigued by the other mare’s affectionate address, but was not so blunt as to ask about it with someone she did not know too well. She gave another glance to the beautiful green of the land surrounding them again.

“It’s a beautiful day. It is good to see the Forest alive again, after the winter, I enjoy the springtime.”

She paused a moment, returning her attention and her gaze to Aponi.

“How about you, Aponi? How are you finding the Forest?”
