Supreme Court Nomination Posted on 10/1/2020 at 23:49:12 by Bill Crawford, (14)
TV commercials are now appearing which argue that the next Supreme Court nomination should not move forward until after the next election; i.e., "let the people's voices be heard".
Although , as a Democrat I would hate to see Trump's nominee being approved this close to the end of his term,
I think that he has every right to make such a nomination at this point in time, and that the Republican-controlled Senate has every right to approve such a nomination at this point in time.
In this regard, I think it is unfortunate that back in 2016 the Republican-controlled Senate would not allow the name of Obama's Supreme Court Nominee, Merrick Garland, to even go before the Senate for a vote; saying that such a nomination should not go forward during the final year of a President's term, but only after the next election (See below link).
Instead, they should have allowed the nomination to move forward, and then voted it down.
