A smile broadens on his lips as he watches Lakota leapt out of the water and shout how happy she was to be home. It felt great to see his child’s happiness take over her whole being. This homecoming was everything he could have hoped for! Nothing could ruin this high save for one thing, seeing Kvothe not having as much fun as the rest of them were. She touches him so his blue eyes turn to smile at her, but his smile quickly disappears when he sees the look on her face. She leans towards him and whispers low enough for only him to hear. She then turned away from him and hobbled off towards the trees. Something wasn’t right.

Quickly, his gaze turns to his sister who completely understands what he was thinking. He smiles lightly as Brunhild begins to distract little Lakota. He thought about telling his daughter to stay put with her aunt, but the sight of Kvothe getting further away distracts him. Worry fills his mind as he canters after her. His gait slows once he is close to keep from crowding her too much. ”Wait….” He begins. ”Please, what is wrong?” He does not realize it could be the baby until he sees her muscle contract. ”Kvothe are you? Is the baby?” His voice begins to sputter all over the place as panic sets in.

What if she didn’t want him to follow? What if she wanted privacy for such an intimate moment? What is something went wrong? He stops following and just stares at the back of her head for some kind of clarification.
