I am the Curb

Corzan

Silver Seal Brown Dun Pintaloosa / highland pony mutt / 13.1hh

Corzan is not quick to wake; his mind trapped in the darkness, though he struggled to escape. His flanks rose and fell in short shallow breaths at first, the sound of water gurgling in his airway as it leaked out of his nose. As it cleared, and less water dribbled out, his breathing became normal. He didn’t know what all was happening around him; how he had been found by mother and child. Only that something kept nudging at him until finally he was able to pry open his eyes.

Vision blurry from the salt water, Corzan has to blink a few times until he is able to see more clearly. He is shocked to find it isn’t his mother’s silver face looking down at him, but two total strangers. Rolling upright, the young stallion tucks his legs beneath his frame. But the movement sends the world into a spiral and a soft groan escapes his lips. Squeezing his eyes closed, he lays there like that a few seconds before opening to look at the two once again.

“Where am I?” he croaks out, the salt still in his mouth and throat making it hard to talk. Corzan doesn’t bother to try and stand, knowing with how the world had spun with only moving up right that he wouldn’t be able to stay balanced. “Have you seen my mother?” the young stallion cannot help but ask, glancing around then to see if he could spot her somewhere resting nearby. But she was no where to be seen, and only the smell of salt entered his nose.
