 To his utter surprise, the mare runs to him as if they are not complete strangers. It causes a rush of warmth to fill his chest, and a flame to catch fire across his flesh when she presses close. For a split second, it made Tyr see what herd stallions fought for. What he could want in life. But then she is pulling away, reality setting in, and the tall beast’s multicolored eyes look to her upset face. Despite the expression that pulled at the lines of her face, he couldn’t help but think she was beautiful. Just like the rest of her, he had noticed, when she had come running to him. The way she carried herself…. The rise and fall of her mane….. her tail as it whipped behind her…. Her voice cut through his thoughts and Tyr let his ears press further forward. A child? But instead of thinking about finding the missing babe, he found himself trapped in her glistening eyes. Was there anything not pretty about her? Already, his mind was whirling with ideas to try and take her home when words suddenly just dropped from his mouth. “I saw a lone filly today, on the Crossing.” the stallion replied. Though it wasn’t a lie, he had seen a filly, he had high doubts it belonged to this angelic woman. With her height, he could already imagine the child she could provide. “I could escort you there?” he offered, hoping she didn’t notice everything wrong with that offer. A stranger in the night, still dripping in salt water, offering to take the mare some place during the season of hormones. But instead of letting that thought show upon his face, Tyr gave a warm smile. “If we hurry, I’m sure we could catch up to her.” Tyr added, waiting with baited breath for the young mare to say yes. |
