~ you carry both lightning and thunder Can you really think of nothing? She screeches. His ears lace against the muscles of his neck. What did she want him to say? That he knew about his mother diabolical plan the entire time? That he was in on it? And so was there father... but how could he say such things to comfort her, when they were lies. Yes, father had made his mother queen, in what he believed was an attempt to salvage what was left of their family. Father had wanted Siobhan by his side, he had spoke of such things repeatedly. "He didn't know. How could he of known?" he pauses "And if he had he would of stopped her." But as she widens the space between them he can feel his chest tighten as her next words stab into his soul. You didn't stop her. He drops his eyes to the dirt at his hooves. "I am sorry. I will have to atone for those sins," he whispers as the guilt washes over him anew. Her next words jolt him from his self loathing. "H-h-is baby?" he asks as his strength suddenly resurfaces as he realizes there was no time for self pity. "Where is your mother?" he asks sharply as he tries to jolt her from her sobs. Then suddenly she rushes toward him and buries her face into his neck. He immediately drops his head to wrap it around her the best he could. The sobs rack her body as the tears begin to spill down her cheeks. Why can't I keep her safe? "My dearest sister, none of this is your fault. The world can be unfair and mean, but you must stay strong," he pauses a breath in hopes his words would comfort her aching soul. "I promise that your mother will return to you." He rests his chin on her back as his eyes focus on the places beyond her. His father had asked him to meet him in the Shore and that was exactly where he was going to find him, if the Norns be willing. |
