sample post:

Have you ever watched the way a leaf falls from a tree? It dips and twists, dancing all the way to the ground. You’ll never see one simply going in a straight line. In this way Moonstruck, too, was a leaf falling. She moved as if music was being played, winding her way through the trees. Each foot was placed with a purpose and a rhythm, and she paid no mind if it seemed clumsy at times to others who waited and watched. No mind at all. In fact, there was something childlike that hovered around her; a feeling, an aura, perhaps a scent. The only place it didn’t reach was the darkness of her eyes, sitting there unreadable like two shiny pools of ink. If you could just look into them deeper, maybe stare past the surface...

But we are talking about today, not any secrets little Moonstruck may hold. Today was good. Today was new. She enjoyed new things. Or well, she enjoyed when she enjoyed new things. There was always a chance that she would NOT enjoy whatever new thing she happened to find, but today was good, she reminded herself. And good meant that she would remain optimistic.

Breaking from the woods with twigs and brambles twisted into the tangles of her hair, she found herself pausing for a moment. She tasted the air, savoring the slight sting of the coldness that waited underneath. The meadow was beautiful, even with the promise of death that tinged it brown. Here and now was where it began, churning slowly. Her excitement. She could feel it starting, bubbling and boiling underneath the surface of her pale skin.

It had been oh too long since she talked to someone. And so, with black lips slipping up into a queer sort of smile, she danced her way forward, showing perhaps a bit less caution than a tiny mare in an unknown land should. You have to know how the saying goes, though.

Curiosity killed the cat. Not the horse.
