There was a faint smell of a herd and another stallion on the mare's coat, but he wouldn't let that get his hopes down. She was here for a reason. If it was just for some idle conversation, so be it. He was bored and needed something to do. He'd take a friend over nothing at all. Anything had to be better than going back to the badlands and being surrounded by a bunch of mares he couldn't touch. Sure, he could talk to them, but they weren't very social. At least here, the numbers were on his side. The pretty golden mare looked so lost in thought that he didn't think she heard him at first when he spoke. When she looked at him with blue eyes that almost matched his own, his smile deepened a little and his eyes sparkled, hoping to look friendly and charming, not creepy like a peeping tom. She explained that the song was some kind of lament and it was very important to her. He dipped his head in acknowledgement. "Well, you bring it to life very well." She admitted she didn't know she had an audience and his lips quirked. "I apologize for the intrusion. I was walking by and heard the melody. I couldn't help myself." He wasn't sure how to read her just yet. She wasn't distant or hostile but she wasn't warm and welcoming either. As she stepped to the side, he flicked his ears back and forth uncertainly. Was she letting him into the back of the waterfall with her? He was afraid to crowd her too much and turn her cold against him, for sure. He waited until she looked comfortable and expectant before he took a breath and stepped behind the waterfall, his skin quivering as some water fell across his spine and gave him a chill. As he shook out his coat a little and glanced at her again, his smile warmed. "I'm Kamekaze, by the way. I live in the badlands, on Salem. I was venturing through the crossing to see if anyone was looking for company or a place to stay. What brings you to the falls?"
