Persephone shook her head with displeasure as she listened to Nekharat’s words. She had hoped that her path would not again cross with Rougaru after the war, but if he was eager to target Luthien and her allies again, it seemed likely she would be drawn into the fray at some point. She ground her teeth in thought.

What were the women of this world and their supporters to do with such a man. Persephone wanted anything but constant war, but neither could she in good conscience stand by silently if he began to harass her neighbours and allies. She considered Nekharat’s question carefully.

“Rougaru is a pest. But he should not be underestimated – he can be dangerous, and he isn’t afraid to associate himself with dangerous friends, as I well know,” Persephone began, shaking her head.

“We have had little in the way of conversation, but I do not perceive him a man who likes to listen. If war cannot change his behaviour, words are unlikely to – but that is not to say a visit would be entirely useless. Perhaps you might glean some useful information, or even meet some of the inhabitants there who could have something to offer.”

Persephone shifted her weight restlessly as she thought.

“I wish I knew how to be rid of him entirely, for my sake and my allies’. But I suspect it is not as easy as fighting or talking with him.”
