live life to the fullest

A part of her yearned to stay cocooned safely in the forest forever, but she knew that was no life to live. She had set out from her family for an adventure, after all, and now she would see that to fruition. She had met a stallion who she was falling for, and now so many things were possible. She could have a family if she wanted. Her very body trembled with pleasure and some fear to think about it. She remembered watching Hannah give birth. It seemed painful, but it also seemed magical. She wanted to have a child, at least one. Maybe more soon, but she needed to make it through the first child. She wanted to experience all that life had to offer now that she had gotten past a major fear hurdle, thanks to Roheryn. She owed him so much for his kind care and patience. She knew he would make her happy. She just had to want it. And she did, more than anything. She knew in her heart, where he was, was where she needed to be.

She hated thinking what the other horses of the forest must have thought when she disappeared with Roheryn. Did they think she abandoned them, or something worse? She couldn't go back and redo it, ask to tell someone where she was going first or something. The black mare admitted she was too caught up in the moment. Roheryn had a way of taking her breath away without even trying and his scorching touches made her mind go all fuzzy when she should have been thinking logically. But she could right those wrongs now by coming back to see them and tell them what she was doing. She could only hope Persephone and the others would understand.

The sound of approaching hoof beats had the arabian mare turning her head, brown eyes falling on the familiar form of Evren and she smiled wider, giving a whinny of greeting to the painted mare as she made her way over to them. Creed's heart did a somersault in her chest, so happy to have the two mares that meant so much to her right in front of her. Now came the hard part: saying good bye.

Evren called her name and Creed bumped her nose back in greeting, her eyes glittering with joy to see the paint mare. It seemed she didn't have to repeat herself since Evren could tell by her wet coat what she'd been up to. At her question, she giggled a little. "Salem, actually. Roheryn took me to see his herd lands in the badlands. It's much different from the forest, almost night and day, really. But there's a strange kind of beauty there, too." She admitted with a new twinkle in her eyes. It meant new places to explore, to figure out. She couldn't wait. She also wanted her friends to know where she was and that she liked the place.

Looking back at Persephone's quiet face, Creed's heart twisted at the mixture of emotions she saw in her caring eyes. She hated to leave them, but knew it was what she needed to do. It didn't have to be forever, right? Finally, Persephone spoke and Creed exhaled in relief. She had her blessing. Creed waited as the lead mare looked to Evren before looking back to tell her now that she was over her fear, she could come visit and Creed smiled wide with a nod of her head. "Of course. I'll come see you guys as much as I can. You are more like family than anything, and I will never forget you." Her gaze swept between the two mares, wanting them to know she meant every word.

Sighing, she glanced back over her shoulder, knowing she needed to get over this hesitation to go into the deep water, but maybe that would fade with time and more swims. Besides, she was sure Roheryn might get concerned something happened to her if she stayed too long. With a small smile at the thought of him caring so much, the black mare shook out her coat and turned back to the mares, reaching out to nuzzle affectionately at each of their cheeks before she took a step back into the water. "Well, I should probably be getting back to him. Don't forget about me." She smiled at the two mares, putting their faces to memory before she slowly turned and moved into the water. As it got deeper, her nostrils flared, fear constricting her chest, but she breathed through it and reminded herself how she'd gotten here on her own. She could do it again.

Her steps were slow, calculating, as she stepped over the waves and into the darker waters. A shiver ran down her spine, but she snorted past it and lunged in with a splash, willing herself to head back to Salem. Bringing Roheryn's image to mind was enough to give her strength and she started to paddle. Home, here I come, she thought to herself.
