I Say a Little Prayer Cearuno

(Mana is in this post to explain his disappearance and her reaction for a plot.)

"Mom can we go explore the commons?" The grullo colt asks his mother who shakes her head. "Why not? Please?" Leilyn shakes her head again. The colt quickly changes his face to a pout, but his mother doesn’t see it. She has not told her son that her blurry vision had become worse. Now she could not see anything and it terrified her. She couldn’t go anywhere outside of the Bay unless she was risking getting lost, or worse. He would understand one day, but for now he was too young to know. He shouldn’t be worrying about his mother when she was the one supposed to be caring for him. Mána stomps his hoof which causes Leilyn to flick her head up in surprise. ”Please mom!”

”No,” she replies with frustration. As she reaches out her muzzle to touch him, she realizes he was no longer there. His hooves beats grow further away so she panics. ”Come back!” She screams his name as she races towards the sound of his movements. She follows him until the waves engulf her hooves. ”Please…” She whispers and he voice comes from just a few feet further in. ”If you’re not coming with me I will go by myself.” A few tears leave her eyes, but she ventures deeper into the sea until she could feel her son. Her muzzle presses to his back. ”Just keep close to me okay?” Her child nods and they begin their swim towards the common island.

She does not know which way they were going. She relied on her son’s navigational skills to get them wherever it was he wanted to go. ”Why do you want to leave the Bay so bad?” As asks as they reach the upcoming beach. She should have known the answer, but she didn’t even think about his father. The reach the beach and shake themselves off, but Mána doesn’t stay at her side long. ”Wait for me.” Leilyn picks up a trot to keep with her year and a half old son. He was nearly grown now, but still she sees him as her little boy. She never wanted him to leave her side, ever. She could feel the grass under her hooves as they walk, but she runs into his rump when her grullo son suddenly stops.

Mána turns to her with a sad look in his eyes. ”I’m sorry mom, but I have to find him.” Leilyn’s jaw drops. ”Mána…” She whispers his name as he colt nuzzles his mother. ”I know I’m young, but you need to let me go. I need to know my father. I need to be with him.” Silence passes between them for a few seconds as tears begin to pour down her face. ”No, please don’t leave me. Sköl left us. He left these islands and left you behind for a reason. I can’t lose you too.” A sigh rolls off her son’s tongue as he steps closer and nuzzles his mother again. ”I’m sorry.” He turns and before she could grab him, Mána runs off. Leilyn tries to catch him, but her snap is met with air. ”Mána?” She says his name with her head turning back and forth like she was looking for him.

Her nose points to the wind, but it was blowing the opposite direction making it harder to track him. ”Mána!” She yells and bursts into a run. She runs until her legs are tired. She runs into she hits a brick wall, literally. There was someone in her path that nearly knocks her to the ground. ”I-I’m sorry,” she begins apologizing to the stranger she just ran into.
