when in doubt, use nettles

Geçersiz was delighted. Not only was she favoring him with attention, but she was kind and pretty too. Both inky black ears perk up as she introduces herself, and the smile grows on his lips. At her question, he puffs his little chest out proudly and nods enthusiastically. "Yes! Or, I will be. Right now I'm a 'prentice. Momma's the healer."

He turned his gaze to his golden mother with adoration glowing in his eyes. She was still his everything or at least half of it. Maslakhat was the other half, of course. Eagerly he turns back to her with another waggle of his tail. "In the winter I'm gonna 'prentice with my dad, Maslakhat. Do you know him?"

Sidika is quick to offer a nod to the pale grey beauty before turning her attention to the Barb mare. Corona, like Sakhmet, was easy to spot against the golden furrows of sand dunes, and Sidika had seen her racing across on or another often enough to recognize her.

Shenzi, however, was elusive. Her scent was clear enough most days, but she did not seek out the safety of the herd like the rest did. She, like herself, had seen the darker side of life and had emerged from the other side more independent than before. It intrigued her, but she would not pry. Briefly, she meets the other mare's gaze before dropping her attention to the wound in an inspection.

The wounds were not so unlike her own, although these would not be ravaged by infection as her own had been. Shenzi had already dipped them into the water to soften the scabs that had begun to form. Gently, Sid reached forward to sniff for any sign of rot; finding no such trace, she set to removing the most stuck bits of debris until the wound was as clean as it was going to be. Nodding to herself, she brought her gaze back to Shenzi's and offered only a matter of fact command. "Let it dry now."

Sidika exited the pool and was immediately joined by the black colt. "What do you need momma?" The golden mare repressed a grin, her gaze flicking to the two other mares in self-consciousness. Sidika was terribly proud of her son, but she was entirely unskilled at managing him among other mares… and was fairly certain her little panther had bounded over mid-conversation without so much as a goodbye.

"Aloe, gölgem. The flower." As he disappeared, she couldn't help but chuckle, and turned her gaze briefly back to Corona. "Sorry. He is… eager to help, always."

The prospect of conversation among her herd mates is inexplicably daunting and she turns away to search for the necessary herbs to treat Shenzi. It would take the colt a few moments to locate a suitable flowering stalk of aloe, and so after gathering a sprig of another round-leafed plant, she turned her attention awkwardly back to the mares with a flick of her tail. She didn't have anything to add, but she would pay attention should they choose to share between themselves.
