Muskoka Field Naturalists has contacted the town and been told that this section of the road allowance is not designated as a hiking trail so it defaults to multiuse. The local snowmobile club obtained permission from Bracebridge public works to widen and cut trees if necessary.
However this road allowance is part of the Great Trail (Trans Canada Trail) which can be designated multiuse but currently is shown as hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing use .
It might help if anyone who uses this trail would write a letter to the Town of Bracebridge and the local paper.
