There was something almost whimsical about the Vanner mare before him and he was enchanted with her beauty. If she didn't already smell so strongly of another herd, he would have loved to invite her to see his home, but he was sure she was probably already happy where she was. Still, he could hold a good conversation and depart as friends. It would be sure to bring a smile to his face for days to come. He could tell she was disheartened when he told her he wasn't from the Crossing. But still, she didn't completely lose interest so there was still hope. He noted the little curious looks as she tried to be discreet about checking him out before she'd look off somewhere else with a sudden shyness that only kept him more interested himself.

At her sudden apology, the draft stallion tilted his head in puzzlement, his ears flicking back and forth before she gave her name as Rhadra and explained that her family was Vanners. She hadn't seen another in so long. His expression warmed as he dipped his head in acknowledgement. "Ah, I see. Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Rhadra. I've only met a few draft-type horses since my arrival on the islands so I don't think we've very common around here. I don't remember much of my own family but I believe the herd was mixed with all kinds." He scowled thoughtfully as he tried to think on it but the years between then and now were painful so he was quick to push it all to the back of his mind once more.

She explained that she and her daughter lived on the Peak. His ears pricked in curiosity. "Ah, I've never been there myself but I have heard of the place. The mountains must be gorgeous this time of year." He didn't have the pleasure of having met anyone from the Peak before Rhadra but he wouldn't mind it. He did enjoy his encounter with Persephone of the Forest and had the idea that her herd was almost the same. A herd made up mostly of mares with mares in charge. There was a time when he would have scoffed at such an idea, but he knew much differently now. When the black mare suddenly apologized again and asked if she was keeping him, Cain was quick to shake his head with a smile.

"No, you're not keeping me at all. I only came to clear my head and see if there was anything I could be of use with here on the Crossing. Having a lovely conversation with a pretty mare is far from the worse way to spend my time." His eyes twinkled playfully.
