As I recall (weak) LEE Had planned for Stuart to sweeep behind Meade while PICKET charged while Longstreet fumed to the charge as he thought Meads center was much too strong and impossible to penetrate. And Custer calvery gallantly Charged into STuarts envelopment and stopped Stuart. AND of course Picket was stopped , LOngstreet suggested to Lee to move to a defensive positio threatening DC Baltimore , to entice Meade to attack. The defens was better tactics, then of course Lee had to be concerned with his rear and logistics Replies: There have been no replies.
