Welcome to The Boost!
This event lasts throughout the whole of January, from 1st until 31st Jan. The main part of this event is similar to the activity contest, in that you can earn tokens simply by writing (and a few other things). At the end of the event in February, you’ll be able to trade your tokens for prizes.
Earning tokens
Below are a list of ways to earn tokens:
- Writing 100 words IC: 1 token
- Rounding up or finishing an old thread: 1 token
- Write your first post in a new thread: 1 token
- Writing a post which furthers or references the plot this version: 2 tokens
- Complete an exploration: 3 tokens
- Complete an impetus quest: 3 tokens
- Complete a ren quest: 4 tokens
- Eat your writing frog: 5 tokens (can be done once a week throughout January)
You can keep track of your tokens on your board. Tokens per 100 words of writing are accumulative, so if you write 350 words in one post and 460 words in another, you can bank 8 tokens total.
Earning tokens with The Boost
You can also earn double tokens if you take advantage of The Boost!
Only one player can have The Boost at a time. When a player has The Boost, anyone who writes to that player (including themselves if they’re writing a self-thread or quest/plot post) earns double tokens. For example, if Edel has the boost, these would be the new token totals:
- Anyone else writes 100 words IC to Edel: the other player earns 2 tokens per 100 words
- Anyone else finishes/rounds up a thread with Edel, or starts a new thread with her: the other player earns 2 tokens
- Anyone else writes a post furthering/referencing the version plot to Edel: the other player earns 4 tokens
- Edel completes an exploration or impetus quest on her own: Edel earns 6 tokens
- Edel completes an exploration or impetus quest with someone else: all writers in the thread earn 6 tokens
- Edel completes a ren quest on her own: Edel earns 8 tokens
- Edel completes a ren quest for one of her own characters, in a thread with another player: all writers in the thread earn 8 tokens
- Edel eats her writing frog: Edel earns 10 tokens
Every day, a coin will be flipped. If the coin lands tails, The Boost stays with its current player. If the coin lands heads, The Boost will moved to a new, randomised player.
At the end of this event, you will be able to trade your tokens for the following prize options.
Point/doubloon prize options
- +1 point: apply +1 point to bank or any character. Cost: 1 token.
- +4$: acquire 4$ for your bank. Cost: 1 token.
Power prize options
- Immortality: apply the power of Immortality to any character. Cost: 20 tokens.
- Telepathy: apply the power of Telepathy to any character. Cost: 20 tokens.
- Telekinesis: apply the power of Telekinesis to any character. Cost: 20 tokens.
- Earth Manipulation: apply the power of Earth Manipulation to any character. Cost: 20 tokens.
- Fire Manipulation: apply the power of Fire Manipulation to any character. Cost: 20 tokens.
- Air Manipulation: apply the power of Air Manipulation to any character. Cost: 20 tokens.
- Water Manipulation: apply the power of Water Manipulation to any character. Cost: 20 tokens.
Shop prize options
- Random Power: Generates a random power for you to give to 1 character or bank. Cost: 15 tokens.
- Random Trait: Generates a random trait for you to give to 1 character or bank. Cost: 15 tokens.
- Choice of 5 Power: Generates 5 random powers, of which you choose 1 to give to 1 character. Cost: 15 tokens.
- Choice of 5 Trait: Generates 5 random trait, of which you choose 1 to give to 1 character. Cost: 15 tokens.
- Gene-Spliced Familiar: Looks like the Intergalactic Illuminati got hold of your familiar! Mix the genes of any two ordinary earth animals to create a new species. Cost: 20 tokens.
- Mystery Familiar: Generates a random familiar which has a 50% chance of being mythical, extinct or unique in some way. Cost: 15 tokens.
- Baby Coupon: Can be traded to obtain a "special" baby when breeding. The "special" baby may be born with an exceptional power or amount of powers, or be unique in some other way. Cost: 30 tokens.
- Illuminati Abduction: Will cause your character (male or female) to be abducted by the Intergalactic Illuminati and impregnated with a gene-spliced baby. The other parent will be a different species and will be listed as "Unknown". Cost: 25 tokens.
- Confinement Paint: This magical paint can be applied to any item used to confine people or animals: rope, handcuffs, cages, a cell, etc. It has one use but the effects are permanent. An item painted with Confinement Paint will block all magical attempts to exit the confinement, e.g. you will be unable to teleport out. Cost: 20 tokens.
- Large Ship: A large wooden ship designed to carry up to 30 people. Ideal for deep water sailing but cannot be kept in shallows. Comes with its own crew! Cost: 20 tokens.
Collectible prize options
- Playerless Coupon: this item works similarly to the Baby Coupon, except it is applied to playerless characters. Adopt a playerless character, apply this item and watch them transform into something truly jaw-dropping! Cost: 25 tokens.
- Guaranteed Abeo Branch: enables you to skip a ren quest and guarantee the Abeo branch for your character. Cost: 30 tokens.
- Guaranteed Bestia Branch: enables you to skip a ren quest and guarantee the Bestia branch for your character. Cost: 30 tokens.
- Guaranteed Vis Branch: enables you to skip a ren quest and guarantee the Vis branch for your character. Cost: 30 tokens.
- Guaranteed Animus Branch: enables you to skip a ren quest and guarantee the Animus branch for your character. Cost: 40 tokens.
- Guaranteed Medicus Branch: enables you to skip a ren quest and guarantee the Medicus branch for your character. Cost: 40 tokens.
- Level Boost (up to Lv6): apply to any character under L6 and they will automatically be boosted to the next level. Cost: 20 tokens.
- Born With Mythical Familiar: use when breeding to guarantee that your baby will be born with a randomised mythical familiar. Cost: 30 tokens.
- Born Lucky: works similarly to the Orphan Child item, except this baby is born lucky somehow. Use on Haven to create a mysteriously “lucky” baby with both parents listed as Unknown. Cost: 20 tokens.
- Resurgence Character: apply to any character to trigger a plot in which your character takes on an important, secret role during V15. Cost: 25 tokens.
Limited time reward prize options
- 3-Month Claim Boost: while this reward is active, you earn double points (+20 instead of +10 per character) and double doubloons (100$ instead of 50$ per 5 posts) for your monthly claims for a period of 3 months. You can choose to activate this reward whenever you want. Cost: 20 tokens.
- Unlock Gift Shop: while this reward is active, you can purchase gift shop items (gift cards and gift boxes) for yourself for a period of 2 months. You can choose to activate this reward whenever you want. Cost: 15 tokens.
- Character Edits Discount: get a 20% discount on all Character Edits/Additions shop items for a period of 2 months. You can choose to activate this reward whenever you want. Cost: 15 tokens.
- Familiars Discount: get a 20% discount on all Familiars shop items for a period of 2 months. You can choose to activate this reward whenever you want. Cost: 15 tokens.
- Baby Generator Edits Discount: get a 20% discount on all Baby Generator Edits shop items for a period of 2 months. You can choose to activate this reward whenever you want. Cost: 15 tokens.
- Potions Discount: get a 20% discount on all Potions shop items for a period of 2 months. You can choose to activate this reward whenever you want. Cost: 5 tokens.
- Post Enhancers Discount: get a 20% discount on all Post Enhancers shop items for a period of 2 months. You can choose to activate this reward whenever you want. Cost: 15 tokens.
- Pets Discount: get a 20% discount on all Magical Pets shop items for a period of 2 months. You can choose to activate this reward whenever you want. Cost: 15 tokens.
- Power/Trait Discount: get a 20% discount on all powers and traits for a period of 2 months. You can choose to activate this reward whenever you want. Cost: 20 tokens.
