She knew the islands were changing dramatically in the recent months, between new leaders stepping forward, old ones disappearing, new challenges for leadership over whole islands. The list went on. She didn't care about the other islands, though, only her own little slice of Paradise. Maybe she was finally settling down a little, but she was nowhere near old. The mare was in her prime and she would never let herself forget that. She was still spirited and still had a tongue of fire when it was needed. Of course, she didn't sense any need for that with the young stallion that wandered close to the borders. He didn't seem hostile or ill intentioned. If anything, she was curious of his background.

It didn't take long for another to notice him as well, though. She knew Rougaru was never far away and her lips curled into a smirk as the silver bay stepped out of cover to come toward them. He spoke to the stallion, asking if he was the son of Xiomara. Monster pricked her ears at the name, having heard it before and smelled it many times on her mate's coat. She was once the feared queen of the Shore, but Monster heard she'd since abandoned it and left it to not one but two new leaders to step up in her place. As her King's muzzle brushed her skin, Monster pinned her ears and stomped her hoof, giving a toss of her head before she curled her lips to pinch his shoulder in retaliation. For all intentions, it was a love bite, though others might think she hated him by her actions. Rougaru was quite used to her reactions, though, so she reacted on instinct. He knew well where her affections lay.

Meanwhile, he was standing as a shield between her and the other stallion and she wanted a clear view. Snorting, she side stepped so that she could see the reactions of the younger stallion. She didn't want to lose the show just because Rougaru was playing protector. She took in the younger stallion's stature. One of his legs looked a little crooked, but otherwise he seemed like a fine specimen. His blue eyes and white face were striking, sure to earn him favor in the eyes of the younger ladies. He confirmed that he was Xiomara's son, giving his name as Fritjof. He said he was heir to the Shore and wanted to introduce himself to the neighbors. Monster couldn't help but tilt her head and prick her ears. "Pleasure to meet you, Fritjof. The rude gentleman pretending to be a wall between us is Rougaru, by the way. I do wonder, though, whether the new leader of the Shore will respect your claim when they have their own children. Have you discussed that with them, yet?"

There was no sarcasm in her voice. Rather, the paint was curious of whether he'd thought all that out yet. There was an intelligent gleam in his eyes that she liked and she wanted to see it nurtured.
