“I will not leave your side.” Tyr replied to her request, and the stallion stayed true to his promise. Not once did he peel his golden hide from her crimson colored flesh, allowing her to stay pressed against him for safety and warmth. The giant would never admit that he drank in the feeling of her like an alcoholic does to his first drink of the day. She may think of him as a father, or a sibling; but Tyr could not claim the same. He craved Kvothe in ways that even made him question his own moral standards. Something he had very little of to begin with.
The walk is slow, and although he is eager to find safer ground, Tyr does not press Kvothe to move any faster than she is comfortable with. Only as they reach the thick tree line at the base of the mountain to the warrior women’s home, does Tyr finally stop. He smells the air but the stallion does not catch any fresh resident scents and he finally looks to Kvothe again, reaching over to lightly trail his lips across her neck once more. “We are safe here.” Tyr said. Even if the Valkyries did descend upon them, they would not attack a mother bearing a child. His sentence might be different, but he did not fear them, although he probably should.
In the very least, as Tyr looked back the way they had come, he did not feel they had been followed any further. But a nagging feeling knotted in his stomach, knowing consequences would be paid later. For now, he only shook it away and turned his multi colored gaze back to the beautiful woman about to deliver their child. “I will be here through it all.” he murmured, not afraid of child birth and gruesome things to come.
