Ed: I too had my turn as OD. On an early tour at Camp Pendleton, I found a Marine supposedly on post, sitting in a truck cab, trying to keep warm. Don't know what happened to him later, but he was relieved and marched off by the Sergeant of the Guard. And I did memorize the 11 General Orders.
