You are the Cause of My Demise (REQUIEM)

"Come on Torvi. Stop dawdling." she chides as breathlessly she draws herself from the ocean surf. Pale eyes turn to eye her daughter as the young girl flounders in the surf, laughing as the waves tugged her towards the shore. The smallest of smiles pulls Tuari's lips upward in the beginnings of a smile. Oh how she wished she too could be that young again. To be carefree and without the burden of worries that plague her now. There was a time in her past, when she too laughed and giggled as mounds of snow exploded beneath the weight of her form. There was a time when she raced over the snow blanketed hills without a care in the world. Now, those days seemed as nothing more than a long lost dream.

And here she was, seeking out the one creature on this earth that had brought her fantasy to a crashing halt.

Once more the veil of uncertainty falls into place. Lips press firmly together as she nudges Torvi ahead of her. Darkened eyes scan the dense jungle before as she dips her head lowly so as not to attract attention or make the leaders here think she meant their herd harm. She was here for only one stallion. "Come on Torvi! Keep up." she beckons, her lithe limbs propelling her over the narrow trails.

It does not take her long to find him. Requiem's silver white coat stands out against the dark greens and brightly colored flowers that enveloped this land. If circumstances were different, Tuari would have loved to explore this world, to stop and savor the brightly colored flowers and admire the squawking parrots that flitted to and fro above their heads. In another life, perhaps she could be happy here, getting to know her father and perhaps even seeing love in his eyes. But that world does not exist. That is not what brings her here today.

"Father..." she calls, ducking beneath a low hanging branch before trotting to a stop a few feet in front of him. Unlike the dreams she once imagined, of a daughter racing to her sire to bury her head against the strength of his strong shoulder, she does not. Instead she keeps the distance between them, her eyes urgent as she fixes him with a stare devoid of emotion. "I need you to keep Torvi with you. Torsten is searching for her and he must not find her. I don't think he knows you are here, it is safer here than Tinuvel..." she begins turning her gaze back to beckon her pale daughter forward. Affectionately she rubs her muzzle against the girl's strong neck, inhaling a deep breath of her daughter's scent and storing it into memory for the years to come. She promised Torvi she would come visit, promised her that she would not be left here for long but that was the burden that Tuari would carry alone.

Once more her gaze turns back to Requiem, pale gaze searching his own. "I entrust her to you. I...I don't have anyone else." she whispers, the words choking in her throat. She was alone. Had been, for a long time. However this, this gave her daughter the chance for something she never had herself.... family.
