So. In late January the Chinese Air Force has vectored an attack force into the South China Sea, to "simulate" an attack on US carrier strike group of Theodore Roosevelt. Supposedly they were no real threat, as they were said to have remained over 250 miles from our group, more than the (known or suspected) range of their antiship missiles. Ha-ha, just a training exercise. But a practice. Any news that when they were spotted by Taiwan, we had launched combat air patrols, to make sure those bogies were just practicing? Not mentioned. How about if they had ventured within the range envelope, did our force have orders to shoot, more or less "in practice"? Doubtful. Remember the Pueblo--the NK gunboats came out of Wonsan, circled around the little recon ship, but no apparent action, more important, no reaction from our side. Next day they came out for real, and we lost the Pueblo. They test us, and we fail to see the threat.
Suppose we have a couple of our boomers lay to just off their port, and when the Chinese send their mighty (and only) aircraft carrier to sea on a training mission, have our guys surface close aboard, and wave to the slopeheads, hello, we could have sunk you, assholes! No way--not under this president.
